Our Pastor Anthony Harden

Pastor Anthony Harden is the founder of The Prevailing Word of God Community Church, licensed by the State of California, incorporated with 501(c3) status.  He was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles by very strict Christian parents; he is the 5th of 6 siblings.  As a result of his parents, Deacon Willis and Mother Bessie Harden, being pillars within the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), dedicated and active Christians within the church, Pastor Harden gave his life to Christ as a teenager.

Pastor Harden attended West Los Angeles City College where he studied Electronic Data Processing/Computer Science, and acquired a position with Los Angeles County for over 33 years.  Presently, he is in pursuit of a Bachelor and Master of Theology degree in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Apologetics.  

Pastor Harden served with his parents faithfully at Refuge COGIC and then Hooper Avenue Foursquare Church.  The Pastor at Hopper Avenue Foursquare Church saw the teaching gifts God gave Pastor Harden, and as a result, assigned him as a teenager to teach Adult Sunday School.

Pastor Harden’s father, Deacon Harden, was led by the Lord to unite the family to Mount Calvary COGIC under the Pastor ship of the late Supt. C.E. Church Jr.  During Pastor Harden’s tenure at Mt. Calvary Church, he served in various capacities: Sunday School (Teacher & Superintendent), Bible Study Teacher, Licensed Minister, Trustee Board member & Chairman, Assistant Corporate Treasure, Youth Pastor and Associate Elder.  

In 1996 Pastor Harden met his lovely wife, Evangelist, Joyce D. Williams, and in 1997 was united in matrimony at the Holy Way COGIC under the Pastor ship of Pastor Charles Nauden.  While at the Holy Way Church, Elder Harden was placed on the staff of Elders as an Associate Elder, and accepted the appointment with his wife over the Youth & Young Adult Ministry.

Pastor Harden and his wife relocated to Fontana where he served under the late Supt. Jesse Malone and Pastor C.L. Smith.  He served as Pulpit Chairman and Bible teacher, Pastoral Care Ministry and Men’s Fellowship President.  In 2015, Pastor Harden was asked to assist the newly formed ministry, Grace Temple COGIC, as Assistant Pastor.  After five years of faithful services, Pastor Harden answered the call to pioneer and organize “The Prevailing Word of God Community Church,” along with his wife, Evangelist First Lady Joyce Harden.  The Prevailing Word of God Community Church members enjoy the fellowship as an Affiliate member of the Love and Unity District, under the direction of Superintendent C.L. Smith in the San Bernardino District and Region within the First Ecclesiastic Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ.

God allowed Pastor and Evangelist First Lady Harden to organize and establish, “The Prevailing Word of God Community Church,” with the mission to: “Teach the Uncompromised and Prevailing Word of God to all men, women and children.  They celebrate 23 wonderful years of marriage.  Thanking God for the blessings of their children and grandchildren.  To God be the Glory, for the things He has done!
